VTDA President's Report 2001
|
Looking back on the past twelve months, there never seems to be an easy one for the Association. On the racing side we continue to push for higher stakemoney levels with a mininimum level in the country more of a priority than increasing Group races.
Throughout the year we have dealt with many issues such as Minimum Fines, Concession Drivers, Trainers & Drivers Security, Advancement Trials, Graduation Meetings as well as Licence and Insurance costs.
Off big concern is the ongoing controversy over TC02 levels and its measurement, whilst issues over Vests and wooden sulkies continue to dominate our time. Interesting was trailing of the mobile handicapping barrier.
Consultation is the only way to benefit all people in the industry in the long term. I sincerely hope the Board uses the I.A.C. properly and takes note of the delegate’s comments as I feel their attitude to it to be far from satisfactory.
The year ahead appears to be one, which no doubt will see new challenges. We can not be complacent, so to my hard working committee thanks for all your support, your differences of opinion, positive input and regular attendance. There is still much work to be done.
My thanks to Steve Warren in the role of secretary, Bruce Barron for his continued efforts on the Board of Management of the Bendigo Training Centre.
I wish that the 2001/02 season will be a successful one for all participants and together we see the Harness Racing Industry prosper.
